My kenning

Kia ora,

Today I have been learning how to write a kennings poem.

Can you guess what my poem is about?

A kenning is a poem that describes a person, an idea or

an object without saying what it is about, a bit like a riddle

I liked righting my kenning poem because i

found it fun to think of thing that

remind me about summer

  1. Kia ora Irelyn!

I'm so happy to see you writing and experimenting with this poetry style. You have used some wonderful words that have conjured some powerful images. There is something so powerful about showing rather than telling the reader about something.

I think that your poem is about...THE BEACH! Am I right? You've helped us a lot by overlaying your words over a beautiful picture of the sand and the ocean.

Was this your first time writing a kenning poem? Do you think that you'll try and write any more? What other topics or subjects do you think you might try?

I look forward to reading more of your work. Keep putting it out there and inspiring us with your creative spirit!

    Ngā mihi nui,

    Ruby

  2. Kia Ora Irelyn,

My name is Zana and I am a blog commenter from the summer learning journey.

You did another amazing job with this kenning and I like the summer theme and the beautiful images you included.

Have you written any other forms of poetry before? There is a new fun haiku activity I think you might enjoy!

Keep up the good work and I hope to see more of your posts during the Summer Learning Journey!!

    Ngā mihi nui,
    Zana Yates
